Congratulations! If you've made it this far, you've already consciously made the decision to incorporate artificial grass into your home or business' landscape. Fake grass may not be much a necessity in other parts of the country, but in Las Vegas, it's almost a requirement.

The good news is that homeowners that install artificial grass, actually find that it reigns far superior to natural grass. Why, you may ask? Let's take a look further into what makes artificial turf installments perfect for any home.

Why Choose Artificial Grass?

Life Expectancy

It's no surprise that artificial turf installation provides long term lawn solutions to both home and business owners. With artificial grass, there is little to no maintenance. Fake grass does not brown or go brittle, it doesn't die or turn yellow. In fact, artificial grass is the only choice for those looking to show off a perfectly manicured lawn year round - for years and years to come! On average, an artificial lawn can last up to 25 years! Think about how many times you'd have to mow your natural grass lawn in that time.

Eco-Friendly

As mentioned previously, artificial grass does not require the same amount of maintenance as natural grass. It does not need to be mowed each week or watered daily. In turn, these aspects provide great benefits to our planet and local water preservation. Don't forget all the pesticides and chemicals you will no longer have use for!

Saves Money & Time

Without costly maintenance services and high water bills, you'll be finding your swimming in time and in savings. Artificial grass is truly an investment with a guaranteed ROI. Eliminate the time and trouble of mowing the lawn and weed whacking, which can save you an estimated $200-$800+ annually. Your back will love you! Make the switch today and save!

How Much Does Artificial Turf Cost?

So the important question: How much does it cost? Lets explore all of the factors that go into pricing artificial turf as well as some other details many homeowners take for granted when they first start shopping around for these products.

Evaluating the cost of artificial turf is simple when you break it down into its individual components. You'll start with the base price, which depends on how much material your yard requires. Next, you have to factor in costs associated with installation. Fortunately, Artificial Grass Guys offers exceptional team members who are experts at installing premium synthetic grasses at affordable prices. Finally, you need to account for the costs of ongoing maintenance. The good news is that maintaining an artificial lawn is significantly cheaper than caring for a natural one!

Let's take a look at each component below…

Base Price

Landscapers charge per square foot for materials used during installations, but what exactly they measuring? Well, artificial grass typically comes in 15' x 25' panels. So, each square foot costs $1.50-$4 depending on the size of your lawn and the amount of material you'll need to complete your project . You can also order rolls that are 50 or 100 square feet at a time for lower per-square-foot prices .

Installation Cost

Of course, this is where artificial grass installation gets complicated! There are two primary factors that affect how much Empire charges for our services: turf density and yard shape. Density refers to the weight of the product – which impacts how sturdy it feels underfoot – while shape refers to whether there are curves or inclines present in the area you want to cover. As far as pricing goes, denser grass requires more material and is heavier to install, so it costs a little more. In addition, the amount of time spent on installation depends on how much work has to be done to prepare the area you're covering.

Maintenance Cost

To answer this question correctly, we also have to consider how often you plan on maintaining your new lawn. Artificial turf stays fresh and green year-round, but some products require higher maintenance than others. For example, our Pet Turf has been specially designed for dogs and owners who want natural-looking grass that can stand up against lots of playtime without fading or browning.

I'm Sold! Where Do We Start?

Once you've made the mental commitment to switching to artificial grass, the next big decisions that need to be made pertain to the grass, itself, and the installation. Over the next section we will cover both aspects of this process. Firstly, we'll discuss The Grass.

Betcha didn't realize there would be more than one option here, did you? Don't get too overwhelmed! Artificial Grass Guys is here to help you pick the perfect grass for your brand new synthetic grass installation. Let's start at the beginning. When it comes to your new artificial grass installation, we'll need to answer some questions about the following attributes: Application, Foot Traffic, Styles/Families, Yarn, and Backing System.

Application

When looking for the perfect grass alternative, the best place to start is with it's application. While artificial grass can be installed for a variety of reasons, landscaping is the most obvious and popular choice. This is due to the versatility and low maintenance of synthetic grass. Some other popular applications of fake grass include play areas, putting greens, pet runs, pool decks, and sport areas.  Please refer to Our Services below to learn more about these popular applications.

Traffic

When deciding on the perfect fake grass for your yard or patio, the next most important consideration is the traffic. Some artificial grass installments will simply act as an aesthetic and will rarely be walked on, while others will be used for heavy traffic activities such as play or sports areas. It's important to consider whether your installation will be exposed to low, medium, or high traffic activities.

Low traffic areas would include an application for a pool deck, well maintained yard lawn, or patio. Medium traffic areas would be used in play-areas, dog runs, and other moderate activity spaces where children or pets play frequently. High traffic applications are usually best suited to active sports surfaces such as tennis courts, soccer fields, baseball diamonds, and other busy areas where many people will be walking the grass on a daily basis.

Styles

Now here's where we start getting fancy on ya. The next consideration for your artificial grass installation is the style. Your best option here will be determined more by the application and traffic then it really will the "look & feel," but it's still worth mentioning. Although there are several types of artificial grass selections on the market, many are made with either polyethylene, nylon, or polypropylene. Polyethylene grass is by far the most premium of the three. Polyethylene grasses are the most natural and appealing to the touch. They are able to withstand heavy traffic and heat, while also maintaining their shape and color. Polyethylene grasses are non-porous so they are also the perfect fit for families with pets. Next up is nylon grass. Nylon grass is considered the strongest type of artificial grass on the market. However, it is rough to the touch and can be rather uncomfortable. Nylon works best for those yards or installations that will be used in heavy traffic areas or in high heat exposure. Many times nylon grass is featured on sports fields or putting greens. Lastly, we have polypropylene grass. Polypropylene grass is hands down the most cost-effective of the three options, however it isn't necessarily the toughest. Polypropylene grasses are not ideal for heavy traffic areas or high heat exposure. They're typically used simply for their aesthetics or for small areas with little to no traffic. All in all, the ideal style of grass really depends how and where the grass will be used! Be sure to consider application and traffic when deciding on your preferred style of artificial turf.

Yarn

The next big consideration for your artificial turf installation is the yarn type. The yarn is the actual shape of the blades of fake grass. Each has their own pros and cons, and have been modified to fit consumers preferences over the last decade. The most popular styles of yarn are flat, willow, stem, diamond, double-diamond, wave shape, V-shape, S-shape, C-shape, U-shape, mini-W, and cool yarn. For more information on yarn shapes and benefits, please reach out to us using the form below.

Backing Systems

The final, and arguably most important consideration when it comes to your artificial grass installation is the backing. The backing system acts as a skeleton for when you are installing artificial grass. Almost all artificial grass has a two-part backing system: the primary woven backing where each of the grass blades are stitched, and then the secondary backing that holds everything together and helps the fabric lay flat. The key differences in backing systems revolves around drainage and durability. Many systems are perforated, meaning that there are little holes punched into the backing to aid in drainage. This can work as a double edged sword depending on your artificial grass application. For pet owners, more perforation and increased proper drainage is ideal. Meanwhile, more perforation and moisture can aid in weed growth, which can also be a pain.

The second backing coating also plays a large role when it comes to backing systems. Many backing systems are made from urethane or latex. Latex is considered the more cost-effective choice, however it's durability can be easily compromised over time and exposure to moisture. Yarn can begin to be pulled out and bald spots may occur as well. Urethane is the easy choice for high durability and long lasting turf installations, however it can be much more expensive. Urethane backings are also ideal for pet owners as the material is non-absorbent, so no lingering odors will be left behind.

Artificial Grass Installations

Do It For Our Planet!

When it comes to the most eco-friendly choice of grass installations, artificial grass is the absolute stand out. Switching from natural grass to synthetic grass not only lowers your personal water and energy bills, it also minimizes pollution caused by gas & oil, grass clippings, and toxic run off.

It's estimated that 60% of all water goes towards irrigation in the summer months. With artificial grass, 55 gallons of water is saved per year for every square foot of grass replaced with artificial grass.
